Statue of Liberty / Ellis Island
Posted by Richard on Thursday 4th January 2007 at 10:34 PM

The Statue of Liberty, on Liberty Island, and Ellis Island, the historical federal immigration processing center, form the the Statue of Liberty National Monument in New York Harbour.

We caught a Circle Line ferry from Battery Park at the tip of Manhattan - a really great trip to both islands. You need to get up early or book in advance if you want to go inside the statue (we didn't). We did join one of the Rangers' Tours of Ellis Island which was fascinating.

We also found William Edgar Burgess Notley and Rudolf Hantusch on the Wall of Honour at Ellis Island - long lost relatives?
