Snowdonia (July 2004)
Posted by Richard on Wednesday 17th November 2004 at 12:45 AM

This year's annual camping trip took us away from our usual coastal locations and into the Welsh mountains of the Snowdonia National Park. We also had a new member in our expeditionary force, Raf 'le Francais'.

Our first stop was on the civilised ;o) side of the border at Ironbridge in Shropshire, before striking camp at Pontrug near Caernarfon for the climb up Yr Wyddfa.

Riverside Camping at Seiont Nurseries, Pontrug was excellent! We pitched by - and swam in - the river, and were only bothered by the occasional wasp! Click here to view this Page

Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon)

My main reason for the trip was to drag the boys up Snowdon (1085m) - or Yr Wyddfa to give it its proper name. We took the Miners' Track from Pen-y-pass - a gentle climb for the most part, but quite hard work for a nine year old (and his dad) from Glaslyn up to the ridge. Click here to view this Page
