Verona and Lake Garda (April 2016)
Posted by Richard on Monday 13th June 2016 at 05:12 PM

Verona is a top destination! We spent three nights here, and really felt as though we got to know the city. We walked miles, but found plenty of places to rest our weary feet - many that served an Aperol Spritz!

We then took the train to Peschiera del Garda and a bus along the shore of Lake Garda to the beautiful town of Malcesine. We spent two nights in a lovely little hotel right on the lake. Remarkably, Aperol Spritz was served here too.

Meeting up with Mark
Posted by Richard on Monday 13th June 2016 at 05:49 PM

Our main reason for coming to Italy was to celebrate Mark's 21st Birthday. We were a few days late, but with constant changes to his tour schedule, we were glad we got to see him at all. Click here to view this Page

From Duomo to Arena
Posted by Richard on Monday 13th June 2016 at 05:50 PM

We stayed in a great apartment off of Via Cadrega in the heart of the historic old town. We crisscrossed the city taking in the sights, making use of our VeronaCard whenever possible. Click here to view this Page

Castelvecchio and more
Posted by Richard on Monday 13th June 2016 at 05:51 PM

On our second full day, we visited more of the historic sights. Like the Duomo, the Basilica di San Zeno dates back to the 12th century. Castelvecchio and Sant'Anastasia are relative newcomers, both completed in the 14th century! Click here to view this Page

Malcesine on Lake Garda

Macesine is a picture-postcard town on the shores of Lake Garda. We stayed for two nights at the splendid Hotel San Marco within yards of the small harbour. Click here to view this Page

Monte Baldo
Posted by Richard on Monday 13th June 2016 at 05:52 PM

Monte Baldo is the ridge of mountains that rise from the eastern shore of Lake Garda to over 2000m. We had considered walking up, but the cable car was probably the more sensible option. Click here to view this Page
