Day 1: 11.0 miles. We were up early on the first day to buy our picnic lunch in Montblanc, before taking our taxi to the monastery at Poblet - la Reial Monestir de Santa Maria de Poblet. The monastery was very impressive, and a great place to contemplate the path ahead...
And we were off! We hadn't been going for long before Katharine and I decided to take a 'short' detour to find a Geocache. The GPS pointed to a spot about 100m off of our path; unfortunately, a series of zigzags, there and back, must have added a mile to our walk, leaving us well behind the advance party! The view back to the monastery was good though.
The walk up to the Mirador de la Pena was tough, but there was a cache there too. (I'd used Google to translate the cache page, which warned us of killer-donkeys on the path!) From there we saw our first example of Neolithic rock art before heading into Rojals and on to our accommodation at the wonderful Mas de l'Arlequi.
