We met up with Peter, Rachel and Katharine at Birmingham Airport for our flight to Reus, about 100 km south-west of Barcelona. From there we took a taxi (which turned out to be a 24-seat coach!) to the medieval fortified town of Montblanc.
We timed our arrival with the climax of Montblanc's annual festival, les Festes de la Serra. It looked as though the whole town was involved, and we even came across bands of itinerant musicians early the next morning!
Our first night was spent at the Fonda Cal Blasi. Our evening meal was a great introduction to the local cuisine. We even prepared our own Catalan bruschetta under the watchful eye of Carle, our host.
