England v South Africa at Twickenham (November 2016)
Posted by Richard on Tuesday 20th March 2018 at 09:36 PM

Lucky enough to get an invite to the game from my good friend, Andy. And a good win for England: 37-21. :-) Click here to view this Page

The Vapors at Dingwalls (November 2016)
Posted by Richard on Tuesday 20th March 2018 at 09:35 PM

To be honest, I couldn't remember too much about The Vapours, other than Turning Japanese and News At Ten. But a great show - one of their first since 1981! - amongst some dedicated fans. (Thanks to Adrian for the invite.) Click here to view this Page

Ian Moss at The Borderline (July 2016)
Posted by Richard on Saturday 16th July 2016 at 10:44 PM

Rolling back the years! Ian Moss (lead guitarist of Aussie rockers Cold Chisel) was in town to play an acoustic set at The Borderline. Jeremy managed to swing a business trip over from Germany; Adrian and I had less far to travel. Click here to view this Page

Electric Light Orchestra at the O2 Arena (April 2016)
Posted by Richard on Sunday 12th June 2016 at 05:39 PM

I was a huge fan of the Electric Light Orchestra back in the day. Now, more properly known as Jeff Lynne's ELO - with only Lynne and Richard Tandy left from the classic lineup - they have a new album out, and they're back on tour. Loved it! Click here to view this Page

Adele at the O2 Arena (March 2016)
Posted by Richard on Sunday 12th June 2016 at 05:08 PM

Laura brought me to see U2 at the O2 as a wedding anniversary treat at the end of last year. I reciprocated with a late present to see Adele. Click here to view this Page

The Stranglers at G Live, Guildford (March 2016)
Posted by Richard on Sunday 12th June 2016 at 04:34 PM

Back to see the Stranglers for the fourth year in a row. Parts of the gig were definitely for the die hard fans - as Baz said at one point, "You should have bought the f***ing album back in '79"! Click here to view this Page

U2 at the O2 Arena (November 2015)
Posted by Richard on Friday 27th May 2016 at 11:40 PM

In 1983, I bought a 'spare' ticket to one of U2's last university campus gigs at Exeter. The ticket turned out to be stolen and I didn't get in. Not U2's fault, but I had a bit of a downer on them for a while after that! Click here to view this Page

Samoa v Japan at Stadium MK (October 2015)
Posted by Richard on Friday 27th May 2016 at 11:36 PM

I was lucky enough to see one game at the 2015 Rugby World Cup: Samoa v Japan in Milton Keynes. Fantastic atmosphere, with most of the crowd adopting a team for the day. Click here to view this Page

England v Australia at The Oval (August 2015)
Posted by Richard on Friday 27th May 2016 at 11:32 PM

England had already wrapped up the Ashes at Trent Bridge, but it was great to see the trophy presented at the final test at The Oval. Click here to view this Page

Barbarians v Australia at Twickenham (November 2014)
Posted by Richard on Thursday 26th May 2016 at 11:14 PM

A trip to Twickers with my good mate Adrian to watch Australia take on the Barbarians for the Killik Cup. A great, open game of rugby with 11 tries, and Australia just holding on for a 40-36 win. Click here to view this Page

Monty Python at the O2 Arena (July 2014)
Posted by Richard on Thursday 7th August 2014 at 11:57 AM

Monty Python Live (mostly): One Down, Five To Go! From the moment the show was announced, Bill made it perfectly clear to me that my main purpose in life was to ensure that he had tickets. Well, mission accomplished. Click here to view this Page

The Stranglers at G Live, Guildford (March 2014)
Posted by Richard on Thursday 7th August 2014 at 11:48 AM

We saw The Stranglers last year at G Live, and were keen to see them again on their 40th Anniversary Tour. Still a great show, but to be honest, I preferred last year's - a few too many lesser-known tracks for me, this time round. Click here to view this Page

The Australian Pink Floyd Show at G Live, Guildford (February 2014)
Posted by Richard on Thursday 7th August 2014 at 11:46 AM

The Australian Pink Floyd Show are a great tribute act - "so good they were even engaged by David Gilmour to perform at his 50th birthday celebration!" Click here to view this Page

England v Argentina at Twickenham (November 2013)
Posted by Richard on Thursday 7th August 2014 at 11:41 AM

A late notice invite from Peter and Rachel to watch a rugby international at Twickenham couldn't be refused. Click here to view this Page

Tour of Britain (September 2013)
Posted by Richard on Wednesday 25th September 2013 at 12:15 AM

The seventh stage of this year's Tour of Britain ran from Epsom to Guildford, right through Knaphill. Admittedly, not quite the excitement or crowds of last year's Olympic Road Race, but still great fun. Click here to view this Page

The Stranglers at G Live, Guildford (March 2013)
Posted by Richard on Thursday 8th August 2013 at 11:01 PM

Great gig; rubbish (iPhone) photos! The Stranglers are getting on a bit now - Jet Black, at 74, could only make half the set - but they still put on a great show. Click here to view this Page

Elbow at the O2 Arena (December 2012)
Posted by Richard on Thursday 8th August 2013 at 10:54 PM

Two days after Keen and we were back the O2 to see Elbow supported by Here We Go Magic. Click here to view this Page

Keane at the O2 Arena (November 2012)
Posted by Richard on Thursday 8th August 2013 at 10:53 PM

Our first of two visits in three days to the O2 Arena was to see Keane. Really enjoyed it, but probably not quite as much as the woman sitting directly in front of us! Click here to view this Page

London 2012 Paralympics (September 2012)
Posted by Richard on Thursday 8th August 2013 at 10:51 PM

Having missed out in the lottery for tickets to the Olympics, Adam and I got our chance to visit the Olympic Park for an afternoon watching Paralympic athletics a few weeks later. Thanks to Andy for the tickets! Click here to view this Page

BT London Live Hyde Park (August 2012)
Posted by Richard on Wednesday 15th August 2012 at 01:36 AM

We may not have got tickets for the Olympics, but we did get some for the BT London Live show in Hyde Park on the closing day. Click here to view this Page

London 2012 Olympics Men's Marathon (August 2012)
Posted by Richard on Wednesday 15th August 2012 at 01:33 AM

Another chance to be a part of the Olympics without having to win the ticketing lottery - and of course without having to pay for the privilege! Click here to view this Page

London 2012 Olympics Men's Road Race (July 2012)
Posted by Richard on Wednesday 15th August 2012 at 01:31 AM

Having completely failed to get tickets for any of the Olympic events, Adam and I made the most of a freebie... Click here to view this Page

Cold Chisel at the O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire (July 2012)
Updated by Richard on Thursday 22nd August 2013 at 05:50 PM

Terrible photos (from my iPhone), I'm afraid, but this event just had to be documented: Cold Chisel's first show in the northern hemisphere in over 30 years! (Jeremy was at the last one too). Click here to view this Page

The Wall at the O2 Arena (May 2011)
Posted by Richard on Tuesday 8th May 2012 at 12:01 PM

With Roger Waters in town to perform The Wall, the time was at last right, to visit the Millennium Dome, aka the O2 Arena. Click here to view this Page

Hampton Court Flower Show (July 2009)
Posted by Richard on Friday 27th November 2009 at 12:59 AM

Having 'done' Chelsea last year, we decided to get our horticultural fix this season at the RHS Hampton Court Flower Show. Weather was a bit dodgy, but Laura did buy a watering can and I got a great hat! Click here to view this Page

Brookwood Boat Rally (May 2009)
Posted by Richard on Monday 15th June 2009 at 11:28 PM

OK, so this might not have been our first walk along the Basingstoke Canal. But it was a very nice day and the Brookwood Boat Rally was in full swing. Very colourful. Click here to view this Page

RHS Chelsea Flower Show (May 2008)
Posted by Richard on Friday 23rd May 2008 at 12:35 AM

For Mother's Day, in March, the boys (let's not be too specific here!) gave Laura membership of the Royal Horticultural Society and tickets for the Chelsea Flower Show. A couple of months later and there we were... Click here to view this Page

Goodwood Races (September 2007)
Posted by Richard on Sunday 11th November 2007 at 11:59 PM

A day at the races (thanks to Laura's win in the Hays charity raffle) at Goodwood RacecourseClick here to view this Page

Tour de France (July 2007)
Posted by Richard on Thursday 19th July 2007 at 10:35 AM

The 2007 Tour de France started in London, with the first stage passing through Hadlow in Kent - my childhood home - en route to Canterbury. Click here to view this Page

London to Brighton Bike Ride (June 2005)
Posted by Richard on Thursday 25th August 2005 at 11:56 PM

Clearly I hadn't learnt my lesson from last year, because once again I entered the British Heart Foundation's London to Brighton bike ride - this time cycling with Team Oracle. I really believe that if I'd done a little training and it hadn't been 30°C in the shade, I might have beaten my personal best! Click here to view this Page

London to Brighton Bike Ride (June 2004)
Posted by Richard on Wednesday 14th July 2004 at 11:01 PM

After 3 months solid training (right!), it was time for Andrew, John and Richard - collectively, the 'Chapped Cheeks' - to make their mark on the British Heart Foundation's London to Brighton Bike Ride. Against the odds and all predictions, the team left Clapham Common at 7:30 in the morning and reached Brighton sea-front - 56 miles away - on the same day! Click here to view this Page

Woking Bikeathon (May 2004)
Posted by Richard on Sunday 9th May 2004 at 07:03 PM

Having lived in Woking for eight years, I eventually got round to entering the annual Woking Bikeathon (in support of Leukaemia Research). I had Adam and James for company for the 29 mile 'long' route. Click here to view this Page

Shuttleworth Military Pageant (August 2002)
Posted by Richard on Monday 5th August 2002 at 09:58 PM

The Shuttleworth Collection Military Pageant Air Display was spectacular! Taking off from a small grass air strip at Old Warden Park in Bedfordshire it was a privilege to see so much history fly past. And some impressive flying by the http://www. Click here to view this Page
