First stop was Boston and three nights in the Midtown Hotel on Huntingdon Avenue. We certainly wore out some shoe leather!
Boston Harbour and Charlestown

As part of our two-day hop-on / hop-off Boston tour ticket we took a cruise on the harbour. Great views of the waterfront and a chance to visit the Naval Shipyard and Bunker Hill Monument in Charlestown.

Our bus pass also took us over the Charles River to Cambridge, home of MIT and Harvard University.

On day 4 we picked up a hire car and headed south to Plymouth, where the Pilgrim Fathers stepped ashore from the Mayflower onto American soil in 1620.
Quechee Gorge, Vermont

Day 5 took us from Plymouth in Massachusetts to the White Mountains of New Hampshire. One of our stop offs was at
Quechee Gorge in Vermont. Stunning scenery and a great walk down to the bottom. Pity we left our swimming kit at the top! :-(
Woodstock, Vermont

Next stop was Woodstock. Not
the Woodstock (that's in New York state), just
a Woodstock. There are others in Alabama, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, New Hampshire, Ohio and Virginia, as well as this one in Vermont. Laura insists this is the one she wanted to see. ;-)
Burlington, Vermont

Our original plan had been to spend some time on Lake Champlain with Debbie and Bill, but in the end Burlington became a short stop-over on the journey from the White Moutains to Ottawa. Very nice.
