Mountains and Med (Feb 2010)

At half-term, 'the boys' took a quick trip out to see Liz in France. Unfortunately, Tristan was away (skiing!) and Paul was hard at work, but we got to spend some great time with Liz, Matt and Tom.

The mountains and coast are both within easy reach of Liz's residence in Biot. We 'did' both. Our skiing may not have been an unqualified success but the sledging was excellent! Same time next year?!

Isola 2000

One of the main reasons for the trip was to get in a bit of skiing. Unfortunately, we couldn't have picked a worse day to drive into the mountains. Full credit to Liz for the 17km drive in snow-chains, up from Isola Village to Isola 2000 and back down again!

Next year: closer resort and better weather, please!

Sledging

We had planned on a second day's skiing, but with every chance of more heavy snow and zero visibility, we decided on a less ambitious trip for some sledging. We found a brilliant spot on the road to Gréolières Les Nieges, and the weather was fantastic ... for a while! Pretty scary driving down a mountain when the cloud comes down!
